Having lived in El Nido on and off since 2005, I have seen how the little town has grown over the years. When I was last back there this year, there are so many more accommodations available that I felt making a master list would be very useful. The El Nido Tourism council has come up with a map and this will be our guide. This list was compiled in September 2012. *updates are ongoing with the photos and details*
- By the beach!
…right in the middle of town, where all the action is!
…quiet, a walk away from all the action in town – Caalan
…quiet, a ride away from town by tricycle – Corong-corong
…away from everything, I want privacy. - I don’t mind being along the street
…hotel or inn-type
…native-style cottages
…basic room kind. I’m not picky. - What about classifying according to my budget?
…backpacker, cheapest available!
…mid-range
…high-end
We will use these maps as guide:

Interestingly enough, this is now what the beachfront of El Nido Waterfront Hotel looks like. I was looking at photos on other websites and was wondering why I have not seen that facade/building when I was there. It turns out, this is now the El Nido Waterfront Hotel. It stands right between Habibi Sisha Cafe/Submariner Diving Center and Rovic’s Pension.
I have to say I liked the old one better. Here’s a photo of it from ilink:

Wow! A comprehensive list! Thank you so much.
Hello
Hats off to you fr this wonderful work and compilation on El Nido.
I will be visiting this beautiful town early next month and this was quite helpful and a great visual guide for me to all accommodations at El Nido.
Bhushan
from India.
Thanks! I hope to be able to complete this more with more photos and links. I have just been so busy the past weeks due to the holidays. Glad it was of help to you. Have fun on your trip!
Hi, this is very helpful! thank you for doing this 🙂
I would just like to ask what is the best beachfront hostel can you recommend? not that too noisy at night and no rooster to wake us up very early in the morning. thanks! 🙂
I’m afraid the roosters are very pervasive! Hahaha! And I would not want to give an assurance that there won’t be any roosters nearby hahaha… but you can you can try Makulay Lodge in Caalan. 😉
Oh I’ve not come around to finishing this blog post but here are my blogs for Makulay Lodge:
http://www.angkulet.com/tag/makulay-lodge/
OMG! You are the solution 🙂 Thank you so much for the effort you pun into getting this posted!
You’re welcome! Be coming back later at the end of the month, I hope, so I will get to finish this while I’m there. I hope the weather cooperates though. 😉
Cheers!
What is the contact number of treetops?
Updated the blog a bit. Contact numbers for accommodations in Corong-Corong already listed.
It’s not working anymore. 🙁 “the number you dialed is incorrect.”
Wait, try this one? +63 908 573 7980. It’s the one listed on the El Nido Tourism guide and map.
You’re so good. I’ve been looking for their contact number for 2 days, still got the same numbers. I’ve been able to talk to them. Sadly, their already fully booked.
Tnx for your help. Really appreciate it.
Like the pics and info. Thanks.
Wow! Thank you so much for this post! We have friends visiting us here in Puerto Princesa who wanted to take a trip to El Nido on short notice. And it is peak season here, so everything is full. They just kept calling down your list and finally found a place! This is a great resource.
Hi and thank you for adding us to your list! We have a new website I would like to share to everyone at http://www.silveriseelnido.com
Hi! First of all thank you for sharing this with the world 🙂 Well, my question is: I’m going to El Nido in April (11 to 14), is possible get a accommodation without booking at this period?
Hi!
To answer your question, it is possible to get accommodations on those travel dates without booking right now and you just walk around asking one lodge/inn/resort after another when you arrive, although I would not really advise it. I always think it is best to book accommodations before arriving to make travel arrangements clearer and have some peace of mind. But then again, do what works best for you. Also, April is already summer vacation in the Philippines so more of us are out there in search for some fun in the sun. 😉
Cheers! Enjoy your trip!
Hi everyone,
To those looking for super budget accommodation,
Magos Cottages of Mang Victor Magos located in
Corong Corong is super cheap. I only paid P200 a
day last Jan 2013. Room is good for two; no electric
fan but windows can be opened for ventilation.
Structure is somewhat aged, and made of wood
and bamboo. The four rooms are very basic;
there is no running water but there is a deep well,
so you can wash clothes for free. Ideal for the no-frills
backpacker.

I love the way you have also categorized this list according to location — which even budget conscious travelers think about first, IMHO. Nicely done!!
Really great work! Thanks!!!
Really nice work you’ve done here. I’ve been planning for our trip in Palawan this June and this is a great guide for me. However, I’ve been trying to contact Cliffside Cottages for days now with no luck. Maybe they changed their number?
WOW! this is it. I found it right on time 🙂 Thanks.
Hi, we would like to write the right name on our accomodations : HIPPOCAMPEBEACHCOTTAGES and not Hippocampebeachresort (palawan/el nido/caalan), with this number phone : 09297063608 – cottage for 2 persons : 1 800 pesos –
How can we add some pictures ???
Regards
Hi Bernard,
Sorry I wasn’t able to include Hippocampe in the list. I almost always did not make it all the way to the end of Caalan, although I used to visit Frank’s house when Rose and Del still lived in El Nido. I am coming back again first week of June and hope to drop by Rose and Kevin’s at Golden Monkey because I told them last year that I was dropping by. I hope they’re done with renovations by now, and will also make my way to your resort too. I wanna see how the garden looks now. 🙂 I preferred using my own photos for this blog for copyright purposes and I didn’t have any info, from both the Tourism’s map or from you guys to put in the list, so I didn’t. My apologies.
But do email me with details you wish to put in and I’ll edit the blog. You may also send me photos you wish me to use, and I will use them until I am able to come by soon.
Thanks!
Hi there, thanks god i finally found this blog, right in time!
Anyway, i wonder how should i make a reservation for makulay villa? I wrote them an email but still no reply. And they seem to not have own web..
The owners and managers of Makulay Villa do not have access to the internet all the time so it may take a while for them to answer emails. Do send a text message or call though, for faster communication. 🙂
I was able to contact Cliffside Cottages at last! I found their new contact number @ http://www.facebook.com/ElNidoCliffsideCottages
Thanks for the info! Updated the listing already too! Enjoy your trip! 🙂
hi! I was wondering if you know where the Shipwreck pension is and a few feedback will be much appreciated, it says, it is just along the street with pura vida inn… Your response will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Yes it is. It is almost across the street from pura vida and alternative inn. I think it wasnt open yet when I compiled this list last year but I stayed in Shipwreck last March. The room I got had a/c and 2 single beds but it uses a common bathroom at the end of the hallway. I paid 1200 for one night. Hope this helps!
Hi! Thank you so much for that quick response ^_^ surely it helps a lot ^_^
Thank you so much for your detailed coverage of the accommodations available in El Nido; we are all benefiting from your hard work! Do you have one particular place in the budget /mid-range category that impresses you more than the others? Further to that I’m curious about your thoughts on Coron as I’m scheduled to go there in December. Thanks in advance. Ben
Hi Ben,
My first question would be, if you are going to Coron in December, what do you plan to do? Because to be quite honest, I almost never recommend going to El Nido in December because for diving, the visibility is worst, and for island hopping, the waves and currents and winds are strong. I am not sure if it is the same in Coron (because on the east side of Palawan, like Taytay, December is a good time to go) for the month of December. Basically, I am saying, I’m not sure December is a good time to go.
Secondly, I can’t really say my impressions would do you any good. For me, a resort/hotel/inn/lodge is good depending on what you like or prefer. For example, I can say Makulay Lodge impresses me but if you dislike fan rooms and cannot live without air conditioning, then my impression is worthless. Or I can say Stunning Vistas impresses me, but if you want to be in the heart of the action and be with and meet a lot of people, then Stunning Vistas is not a good palce. Basically, what I’m saying is, take the resort photos by face value and then zero on which one impresses YOU, then you may ask me what I think about it. Each hotel/resort/lodge/inn is unique, and I can say both good things and disadvantageous things about each one from a very general perspective, without being very personal.
I hope I have been helpful with this response. 😉
Hi. Again; I want to thank you for all of your hard work compiling this informative list. Do you have a particular place in the mid range, by the beach category, that you would recommend. Thanks in advance. Ben
Hi. Thanks so much for your honest and candid answer; I respect your position and understand the difficult position I put you in by being so vague with my query. I will be spending Christmas in Coron at Patrik and Tezzs’ Guesthouse; at 500 pesos a night, and staying at a place built on stilts, in a fan room; I am so excited. I guess that sums up what my preferences are. As long as a place is clean, the staff happy, and it’s good value; I’m game for anything. I’m thinking of The Marina Garden; what are your thoughts; and I would be staying in a fan room; I get enough air cooled temperatures in Canada that I can live without air-con. Thanks for your response. Ben
In that case, I think you will like Alternative Inn or Marina Garden Cottages. In Marina Garden, make sure to ask to ask for the cottage with fan and not the hotel-type rooms. Also, maybe you would like to stay where I am staying at. It’s not on the list but I can send you photos if you like. It’s on the Php500 range as well. Do check this blog out: http://www.angkulet.com/2012/11/16/memories-of-september/ This is actually where we live now. The cottage on the photo is my neighbor’s – a Spanish, mine is next to it, but the cottage next to mine is empty. You can rent it on a daily or long-term basis. Unlike Alternative Inn and Marina Garden, which are in the middle of town, in front of the town’s beach as well, where we are (called Lorenzo’s Cottages) is a tricycle ride away from town and is very quiet. There are also similar cottages along the beach of Corong-Corong for nearly the same price. I have yet to go around and look into them one by one. I didn’t get to finish Corong-Corong last year but I will finish it this time. It is rainy season and sometimes it rains all day. 😉
You just might be able to view a sunset like this. https://twitter.com/angkulet/status/350565984790249472/photo/1 😉
Cheers!
Angku
Thanks. This is a helpfull to every traveler.
Hi; thank you again for all of your help; you truly are a great ambassador for El Nido. I want to echo what so many have said already; your hard work makes it so much easier to find ones way; in a country where tourist info is often hard to come by; President Aquino should pay you well! Maraming salamat po! Ingat palagi. Ben
Very Helpful! Hats off to you.thank you for all of your hard work compiling this informative list 😀 More Power!
for travellers http://www.backpackers-planet.com
Hi,
Thanks for this blog. This is really helpful.
I would like to know if it is safe to travel at night from puerto princesa to elnido. We are planning to go straight to elnido as we arrive PP airport thru roro bus. We’ll arrive probably by 6PM. So we will be at elnido arround 12midnight?
Looking forward for you response… 🙂
The roro bus has been suspended due to an accident that happened last August. No word yet when it will resume operations. I believe the Cherry bus travels by night? Night travel is ok. 🙂
Hi! Amazing compilation by the way! Would like to ask you if you have any idea if spearfishing is allowed in El Nido? Im getting varied answers from everyone 🙁 Thank you so much!
Spearfishing is not allowed in El Nido as far as I know. But of course, some people get away with it.
Firstly, thank you so much for this list, its a huge help to everyone looking for places to stay.
Quick question – I am coming to El Nido 23.1.14 and saw your comment about December not being a good time to come – is that true for when we arrive too? I hope not! Also, we would like to find a place like makulay – is this a long walk to El Nido down?
Thank you again!
hi,jas want to know if u have a bills tourist inn contact number, its a new hotel in el nido.any info about the place will b highly appreciated.im planning to go there by march.ty
will be going this july from puerto princesa, do we still need to book early or is it already off season by then? do all inns arrange tour packages? even the budget ones? thank you… hope you can recommend budget friendly inn with the so many choices we have, is bulskamp inn good?
whats the best mid range priced hotel that has a very nice beach front?
In town, the beachfront is nice but is crowded and not ideal for swimming. In Caalan Beach, there is a nice view but it is rocky. Except for Last Beach Cottages (Hippocampe) at the very end of Caalan Beach, with website at http://www.lastbeachcottages.com, where the beach is sandy and ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and just hanging out as it is private and away from the crowds. In Corong-Corong Beach, there is a nice view but the beach is not good for swimming as it is very shallow and only great for kids. There are Stunning Vistas and Islandfront Resort, as well as Greenviews Beach Resort. If you want to have reeeaaally nice beach, you can go to Orange Pearl Resort and Las Cabanas in Marimegmeg Beach in Lugadya but it is quite far from town. Each tricycle trip costs Php150 to town and then Php150 back. Also, you have to walk down a dirty path to the beach from the road.
I hope this helps!
