Diving in San Teodoro, Sardinia, Italy

Diving, Italy, Sardegna By June 23, 2017 Tags: , , , , , , , , , No Comments

Sardinia is an island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, south of the French island of Corsica and to the west of mainland Italy. The water is surprisingly pristine and clear with amazing visibility. Sardinia is best for diving in the summer months!! The dive site Secca del Papa (or The Pope’s Drop-off) in the Tavolara Marine Protected Area is probably one of the best dive sites you’ll ever dive in the Mediterranean!

Blu Infinito Diving Center, located in Capo Coda Cavallo in the town of San Teodoro south of Olbia, is a five-star PADI dive resort that is now on its 11th season. It can be found in the Village of Porto Coda Cavallo fronting Salina Bamba Beach and is one of the few dive centers accredited for diving in the Marine Protected Area of Tavolara.

The dive center has consistently received a Five-Star rating on Trip Advisor since 2015.

“Blu Infinito Diving Center since opening in 2006, has one goal: the pursuit of EXCELLENCE, in the relationship with the customer, in the quality and safety of equipment and procedures, the personalization of services.” It offers PADI diving courses at all levels, snorkeling trips, accommodation+diving packages, transfers from/to airport or between hotel and dive center, as well as Scubapro equipment rental.

My Blanks and I on Our Very First Date

Life In Italy, Lifestyle, Sardegna, Surfing, Surfing By April 21, 2017 Tags: , , , , No Comments

It may not look it but this picture shows many firsts and it had to be documented.

A first time for my wetsuit, a Christmas present from my husband.
A first time for my brand new surfboard, an advanced birthday present from my husband. Along with a new leash and booties.
A first time for me and my husband to be surfing together at the same time in the water. We had to take turns before in terms of boards and instructors.
A first time for me to go surfing this year.
And lastly, a first time for me to be surfing in the waters of Sardegna.
And what better place to do it but in a secret spot close to our home. A mere 20-30 minutes away drive, in the very same town we live in.

Porto Conte and Capo Caccia, Sardegna, Italy

Italy, Life In Italy, Sardegna By May 20, 2015 Tags: , , , , , , , 1 Comment

Capo Caccia is situated a few kilometres from Alghero, on the southern point of a huge limestone triangle that wedges out into the sea. There are characteristic, impressive cliffs (nearly 300 m high) on its west side. It is renowned for the underground labyrinth of mysterious caves discovered in 1700. The most famous one is Grotta di Nettuno (2500 m long) that can be reached by sea or on ground climbing the 656 steps of Escala del Cabirol that lead to the cave. Although we did not venture to these caves or the grotto because of Lia, the view itself was enough for us. And I guess for others too.

Cala Brandinchi (Again), San Teodoro, Sardegna, Italy

Italy, Life In Italy, Sardegna By September 30, 2014 Tags: , , , , , No Comments

I said I would come back and take more photos of Cala Brandinchi – and this it. This was that day. Cala Brandinchi is about 10-15 minutes walk for Lia and me from our home in Villaggio Porto Coda Cavallo. It is where we go when we don’t want to be in Salina Bamba or when I wanted to have a nice cup of frozen coffee at the bar.

We take the dirt path from the village. This is the view of our village.

And this is Tavolara Island, at the back of our village.

Sometimes Isola Tavolara looks so white!

With the village behind us, we trudge on the path to Brandinchi, and the first view is the parking lot right in front, and the beach on the left.
