Although the first single, “The World As I See It,” was released in September 2011 and was included in his set list for his acoustic concert with Toca Rivera in Manila last October, Jason’s Mraz’s latest album, “LOVE is a Four Letter Word” will be released next month, April 17. It is now available for pre-order on his official website at www.jasonmraz.com.
Though I personally didn’t make it to the concert because of a series of accidents, here is a clip from that event.
I hope I can still get a chance to watch him perform live at some point in the future. (Unlike Amy Winehouse, who I have to admit, I dearly miss.) More
Yellow leaves are falling off the tree right outside my window, the wind blows gently, the sun shines through a thin veil of clouds, birds are chirping and flying about on this beautiful morning. My Facebook wall has been flooded with Youtube videos of Train, Adam Levine and Javier Colon, and finally, Dia Frampton – a direct result of watching the premiere of The Voice’s Season 2 and a marathon of the complete first season.
It’s a good Saturday morning filled with music. My veins are throbbing with caffeine and my heart is full. I am ready to fall back into bed with Dia Frampton’s soulful voice in the background as I play her RED album.
If I heard her song on the radio and I hadn’t seen her on TV, I would think I’m listening to another Brit singer – just about my favorite musicians on the planet.
Who wouldn’t fall in love with these eyes? And this voice? And the simplicity written all over her face? I’m absolutely mesmerized. More
SUPPORT BICOLANO ARTISTS – that’s the thrust of Wharf Galley, so every time we have a Manila-based band coming over to Naga, we prioritize bringing the Bicolanos back home. Your Imaginary Friends, composed of Ahmad Tanji (vocals and guitars) of Legazpi’s famed Pepsi Paloma Experiment, his brother Khalid (guitars), Eric Po(drums) from Naga City and Emerald Aquino (bass), are as close to being all Bicolano as they can get.
Eric Po, the band’s drummer and graphic artist extraordinaire, made a lot of publicity materials for this event in the course of three months. This helped a lot in promoting the event and no doubt, helped in making the event a very successful one.
Dong Abay and members of the band Coffeebreak Island arrived in Naga this morning via Penafrancia bus lines, and was promptly brought to their accommodations in CWC. I went to pick them up for our lunch at Chef Doy’s Gourmet Restaurant.
at Chef Doy's Gourmet Restaurant
We had sumptuous lunch and then coffee and beers after. We also met and had a bit of chit chat with chefs Doy and Che. It was one busog, and thereafter sleepy, afternoon.
I checked into FourSquare and ousted the mayor of Chef Doy’s, increasing my mayorships to 9. Hahaha. I don’t know why I’m saying that, it doesn’t really make sense, but what the heck! *winks!
I will always say that Adele is MY artist. Some artists I like, I like because someone introduced it to me, like Jeff Buckley, Maria Mena to name a couple – artists that I came to appreciate and love because I hung out too much at Nick’s place; BUT Adele, is mine.
It was the music video of Chasing Pavements that caught my attention, that made me look for her album in record stores. It was that beautiful voice that on the first words, always made me think of Macy Gray (an absolute favorite of mine), that in turn evoked memories of my days in college and El Nido, which in turn evoked memories associated with Joss Stone. It always was a cascade of memories, deep-seated and quite uncontrollable.
Asked why I had liked that video, its simple but unique. The stop motion part is something I had looked forward to every time.
More than the video, I had loved the song and the lyrics. It had provided the perfect soundtrack to my nomadic life of the years past.
Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere?
Or would it be a waste even if I knew my place
Should I leave it there?
Should I give up or should I just keep chasing pavements
Even if it leads nowhere? I build myself up and fly around in circles
Wait then as my heart drops and my back begins to tingle
Finally could this be it?
Johnoy’s gig was actually supposed to be on May 7th, but Typhoon Bebeng (Related story: Bebeng Threatens Bicol Region) came lashing down on the entire region with strong winds and heavy rains, which caused Johnoy and his team, on a Cebu Pacific plane that hovered above the Pili Airport for some time waiting and hoping to land to no avail, to come back to Manila. Incidentally, that also spoiled our Pacquiao vs Mosely plans at Ramashinta Resort & Spa, as well as my Mother’s Day Special at Stonehouse Gardens.

This is the old poster, which we released back when Wharf Galley Rock Cafe was still at its old location in Elias Angeles St., near Nagaland Hotel and our partner printing press was Goldprint. This was also back in the time when I thought one could make do with only a few sponsors here and there (and boy, was I so wrong!) More

This is so far, my favorite Bl@h song, and really, I.do.not.know.why. This song just makes me happy. Maybe it’s all those days I spent chasing after cockroaches in that cockroach-ridden apartment my brother and I shared with an old lady and her grand daughter in Kalayaan Avenue, Quezon City back when I was a freshman in college. All those days I spent chasing after cockroaches not because I wanted to kill them all, but because I needed them, alive and kicking mind you, for my Biology 11 laboratory class. The irony of them cockroaches scampering and flying about when I have no need for them and their being all absent when I needed to catch a bottleful for my cockroach dissection activities. So funny. Loved those days. More
