Top Junk performances at Amrei’s 30th in Route 196

I missed Top Junk’s performance in Ten02 Bar last year during Roma’s birthday party so this was the first time I got to see them perform… and boy did I love them! They got themselves one more fan (so much so that we are going to see them perform this coming Saturday, Sept 3 at 70s Bistro. Flush and the Toilets are also playing so that’s one more reason to go!)

Amrei's 30th at Route 196

I have uploaded the videos of the Top Junk performances from Amrei’s 30th birthday celebration at Route 196 last Saturday videos on the youtube account that I had to make just so I can have a place to upload videos to and share them. I’m new to this video-taking/video-making (like I’m new to “fashion photography” or the semblance of it), so it took me a while to make the videos brighter on iMovie. I re-uploaded the videos. They are now brighter but they are less sharp (which makes me a wee bit sad). It took me at least 3 hours each to upload the videos. I already took down the previously uploaded original videos.

Diwa de Leon at Amrei’s 30th at Route 196

I first got introduced to Diwa online, on YM chat actually, by my friend Edwin Guillermo. I forget how long ago that was and most importantly, why. Last night for the very first time, I met Diwa and got to listen to his music.

Angku, Edwin, Diwa, Coy and Abet

I am actually embarrassed to say that I have never actually listened to his music though I am sure I’ve been hearing it a lot without my realizing it. After this performance last night at Amrei’s birthday party…

… I can now say, I am a fan. I love your music Diwa. Cheers to more music!!

Under Cover Karaoke with Jewel

I have always been a Jewel fan right from the very beginning, though perhaps not at the middle, of her musical career. And I’d like to thank Red for sharing this via Twitter. I loved every bit of it! I read some of the posted comments and I have to agree that it was really touching. And, I wish I was there too! Well actually, I’d do lots (not everything) just to be able to watch Jewel perform live, no matter if its a karaoke bar or a big concert stadium or even an open field. Hahaha.

Undercover Karaoke with Jewel from Jewel

This is just one of those days when I needed music and music came to the rescue. :) Thanks Jewel and friends.

Obladi Oblada – Boy Prodigy Version

I’ve been watching these videos ever since I saw them on my Facebook news feed, posted by Nick in his attempt to distract people from the fact that Boy Abunda plugged him on SNN. Hahaha. Also, this song always makes me think of my friend Lizzie.

Lizzie, Tin and Angku at Angku's bridal shower, October 2006

She sang it on videoke on that night we had a get-together in Discovery Suites.

The Trapeze Swinger
Around the Well (2009)

Please, remember me happily
By the rosebush laughing
With bruises on my chin, the time when
We counted every black car passing
Your house beneath the hill
And up until someone caught us in the kitchen
With maps, a mountain range, a piggy bank
A vision too removed to mention

Putumayo World Music

Music One in Greenbelt 3 had this corner for World Music and I remember going there (I have not been to Greenbelt in years..) and literally lusting after all those nicely-colored and beautifully-designed covers of their CDs and of course, wondering at what kind of amazing music it contains. The CDs were more expensive than the usual and I could not afford them.

One time I was walking mindlessly in Glorietta when I saw this little shop that had a CD clearance sale and lo and behold, they had some of the World Music CDs I have been lusting after! They were still at P250 each, if I remember correctly, so I only managed to buy four. Add that to the other CDs I bought for P150 each and that had me walking away from the little shop with about P1,500 worth of CDs.

I simply could not pass this up: Alternative Love Songs.

I was cleaning out my home office last night and I found the card inserts on the CDs lying around. It told me I could mail it in or visit the website – and of course, visit the website is what I did.

What an amazing website. I love, love, love the colors of course! And the usual beautiful designs. Even more so, I love the fact More
