Not without a little embarrassment, I set out to write this blog that will let people know what I have been up to the past month, and that is – make-up.

I have never been into make-up really. I was always the tomboyish kind. My sister always had to remind me to powder my face, and the only thing I don’t ever go without is eyeliner; but because I have been close to being bored to death the past month, I decided to try out something different.

So I started frequenting Martha’s beauty blog, not for anything but because it was different from most sites I visit, “most” meaning mommy blogs, artist blogs, writer blogs, travel blogs, and photography sites. Martha has always been into make-up. I had loved seeing her all made up when we we’re still working together in theater. It’s not that I have not been into make-up at all. Being a theater person required you knew how to put on make-up on yourself, but I was not quite inclined to putting make-up on regularly or when going out.

Last month, I decided I wanted to try out a personal make-up class. So for one afternoon, together with make-up artist Leah Tulang of The Make-up Corner, we set out to do all kinds of basic make-up on ourselves. Not that I didn’t know that already, I just wanted to see if there was something else out there I needed to know.

Night Make-up Look, with Leah Tulang

Yes, I looked different. How fun! I even look like I have more weight on me than actual. Or maybe that wicked grin was just me trying to make my red lipsticked lips look thinner.

We then moved on to doing the smoky eyes look that I have always been curious to learn. Ta-dah! Smoky eyes look achieved, I suppose. This photo was taken at home, after it endured four hours of travel, a movie and walking in the rain.

Now, all I needed was make-up, which I was clueless of. And then incidentally, Martha holds this 3rd anniversary give-away, that I join because it was just awesome!

I ended up taking home the beauty loot. It was a super fun contest. I loved everything about it!

Earlier today, Martha met all the other winners, at least the ones based in Metro Manila, so she can give us our loot bags. (Don’t you just love the term “loot bags”? Even for Lia, that means something fun and nice!)

We met up at our favorite coffee shop at what is actually our favorite hang out place in Taguig. (I lived in Taguig for 3 years).

At Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Bonifacio High Street, Taguig

It was crazy fun meeting up! She called me, “Hey Madonna!” and I just had to laugh at that. I had my usual boots on, and my favorite hat, one that I recently rediscovered, and I just said, “I know right?! I feel like I’m gonna dance any time soon!”

We talked about friends, work, theater, businesses and her beauty blog. It was so nice catching up!

And these are what I brought home:

Royal Effem Makeup: Volumizing Mascara, Delight Fluid Bronzer, Hydra Mineral Foundation, Totally Gloss, Glamour Effem, Loose powder, Eye kohl, and Brow Pencil

CoverGirl Natureluxe lip balms

So, I have two of this. Any of you want the other one, just leave a message!

My loot bag also came with some Nivea products. And Martha recently received a lot of L’oreal products that she is also giving away. If any of you guys want some, just leave a message too!

My loot also came with a Charm pro stippling brush, and it makes a good addition to my Suesh brush set that I bought during the workshop.

Suesh brush set, Charm Pro stippling brush and my all-around brush from I dunno where. I think my mom gave it to me.

Now, I tell Martha, “This thing about being into make-up, this is absolutely YOUR fault!” and you know what, I’m not the only one, one of our friends, Chin F, says the same thing too!

More than funny, all these are quite fun. That much I have to admit. This is quite fun.

So fun that uhm, I’m going to set out tomorrow to have my hair colored for the very first time. I hope it turns out ok!

This is one of those times I get to say “It’s fun being a girl!” Lia loves being a girl too. She loves make-up and she likes putting it on more than I do actually. I have videos of her putting on make-up on herself and pictures of myself waking up with make-up as well as nail polish that she put on me while I slept. She’s having a lot of fun with the make-up, the boxes and the brushes now…

Visit Martha, a.k.a. The Beauty Junkee, on her blog at http://thebeautyjunkee.blogspot.com/ for make-up, hair and skin care product reviews, video tutorials, give-aways and promos, events, and sometimes, updates about her trips, her pets, her boyfriend (theater actor Randy Villarama), and theater too! I love her blog. I have been a supporter of it ever since it came out three years ago. 🙂

You can also be a fan of her Facebook page and follow her on Twitter.

I love you Tamarts! Hope to see you soon again! Thanks so much for the loot and the friendship! Good luck to us! Yes, we certainly do rock. 😉
