Although the first single, “The World As I See It,” was released in September 2011 and was included in his set list for his acoustic concert with Toca Rivera in Manila last October, Jason’s Mraz’s latest album, “LOVE is a Four Letter Word” will be released next month, April 17. It is now available for pre-order on his official website at www.jasonmraz.com.
Though I personally didn’t make it to the concert because of a series of accidents, here is a clip from that event.
I hope I can still get a chance to watch him perform live at some point in the future. (Unlike Amy Winehouse, who I have to admit, I dearly miss.)
The lead single did not get my attention as much as the single most recently released did. “I Won’t Give Up” was released last January. The official video, released February 17th, is doing its rounds in my Facebook network right now. I managed to find the lyric video released on January 2nd, a day earlier than the song’s digital release on iTunes, and happen to like it so much more.
Jason Mraz sure looks different, though neither in a better nor worse way. Just different.
The lyrics are haunting. I tend to like songs that make a multitide of images run through my head as I listen, songs that are best enjoyed with eyes closed in the dark. Again I’m reminded why I caution people when they ask me to play my music for them, like in the bar, or in the car, or when hanging out at a resort somewhere. The closest to being a happy song in my play list is Lily Allen’s cover of Kooks’ Naive.
And in the end, you’re still my friend
at least we did intend for us to work
We didn’t break, we didn’t burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I’ve got, and what I’m not
And who I am
So, also maybe, I find this song moving because I’m going through a phase in my life, a self-imposed one might I add, wherein I’m trying to decide if it’s worth pushing through with some of the projects and advocacies I started in the past.
Earlier today, we were out walking in Glorietta and I kept seeing these things that are nice and I keep asking myself, “What if I just kept all my money last year, what could’ve I bought with all that money?” Am I gonna keep at it or should I be moving on to different things?
Should I NOT give up?
As an end note, I want this tee. And Lia, when she saw the image, said, “My Favorite……! Yellow Rectangle, Red Circle, Green Square, Blue Square!” Pfft, kala ko kung ano.
