It was supposed to be just a day trip to the beach. Our plan was to leave Manila at 5am so we can be at Laiya by 8. Unfortunately, leaving that early is easier said than done. We left Manila at some time past 6am, had breakfast for maybe an hour at McDonalds in SLEX, and got to Laiya by 11am. I was not prepared for an overnight trip, at least not financially since these days I have not a penny to my name, and so was our rented van driver who had a commitment for the next day. I had to call Ced of Travel Factor to ask for a van contact that could pick us up from Laiya the next day and bring us back to Manila (another added expense) – but my friends had moolah, and were gracious enough to shoulder my share. Thanks friends!!!
La Luz Resort is nice. I had liked that huge hut that served us their reception area, right by the parking lot. From there on, one has to go down a flight of steps to get to the resort and the beach.
Our first order of business was of course, lunch. For the fee of P1,100 per person, one is entitled to buffet lunch, snacks, buffet dinner and buffet breakfast. Not bad! And that is what we ended doing half the time, EAT!
After lunch, we sat down in one of the cabanas to play Monopoly while drinking real good ice cold beer! That had us occupied for the next 4 hours.
After snacks, our stomachs heavy from too much eating and basically doing nothing, we decided it was time for a dip. I am grateful for H’s telling me that I bring my snorkel gear. Snorkeling in front of the resort was a good experience! Lots of fish! And I didn’t have to go too far.
After having a nice swim, we went back to our cabana for cocktails and chat. I had especially liked their Malibu Pineapple and Kat had liked their Mango Rhum. Nick and Kalai were good with their The Bar Apple + Sprite combination. Jen was in our room having a real nice 1-hr massage for P250!
Soon enough it was time for dinner! Our stomachs still full and heavy, we trooped to the dining area and had dinner since it was only available til 8:30. Here are some of my usual whatever shots!
And of course, more photos of us eating… since we think it’s the only thing we did there!
Then we were back to just hanging out. I had especially liked this tree. Of course it had a tree right smack in the middle of the chair – a thing I have a knack at noticing. Having something right smack in the middle of a photo always makes me smile.
I had loved this tree. It’s actually very romantic. *laughs*
Then we were back to our cabana for an entire night of just chatting away. I would like to thank my friends for taking me out, at this time in my life when my thoughts and emotions are as jumbled as the sands at my feet. I believe I have talked my life out on this night and afterwards, things somehow made sense. Afterwards, I do not feel the need to talk it over with people anymore. I’m okay. I have talked enough. I have felt enough. I am now okay. And for that, I thank you much. I feel like the beach trip was not for Jen, who is on vacation from Dubai, but for me. For that, I apologize… and thank you much. Thank you for understanding and for being such good friends… I had needed this so much more than I realized.
Soon enough it was time for bed, and off to bed we went. Our pick up for the next day was scheduled at 8am, since both Kat and Jen had meetings at 1pm and I had a class at 4pm. But we woke up at 8! Off to hurriedly have breakfast we went.
I had liked La Luz Resort very much. I would like to think I’d be back there soon enough. I will take Lia with me and we’d have a grand time together just hanging out. It will be so much fun… and I’ll make it a point that I look better than I did on these photos. Again, thanks Jen. Thanks Kat. Thanks Nick and Kalai. With much gratitute, with all my love, Angku…
