I was home earlier this year with Lia while H was busy with his first quarter meeting with the “United Nations” team. I always make it a point to eat at Bigg’s Diner every time I am home. There is one walking distance from my parents’ home in Pili. It is the one right in front of the Pili Elementary School, in the Pili town proper, next to a now-closed gas station (where I used to buy a pint of ice cream everyday the entire summer before I went away to college), along the National Highway.
I have a lot of fond memories of Bigg’s Diner, especially this one. It’s open 24 hours and their goto is delicious. I used to come around and have some at odd hours of the night. This is where I meet up with old friends when we do not feel like going all the way to Naga. This is where we eat when we do not feel like eating at home, after mass, or when we just want to eat out.
I always loved their pork cordon bleu and their tenderloin tips. And when I was home, they already had a choco lava cake in the menu – which I super loved. I think about it sometimes and its enough to make me want to come home. When that happens, I sate myself by going to Mogwai over at Cubao X, because they have almost the same cake.
