When we were looking for accommodations in Batanes, I found two other blog sites especially helpful – and because of that, I thought it would be also be nice if I helped out in return by posting more information. On our way back from biking from Mahatao, we also took a little bit of time checking out where the other accommodations in Basco are.
1. BATANES RESORT
About 3 kilometers outside of Basco town proper, this is a pretty and quiet place to stay at. Food is really, really good too. If you don’t mind staying too far out from where the stores and other places to eat are, this would be just fine. Rate: P1.800/day. Click here to read separate post.

2. DDD HABITAT INC.
Right in the heart of Basco town proper, in Llopez St, it is a fairly new place to stay at. This is where we stayed when we were there and I liked this place enough. It has spacious rooms, great staff, free wi-fi and is walking distance from everything. A/c rooms good for up to 4pax is at P1,200/night and fan rooms good for 2pax are at P600/night. 3. NOVITA HOUSE
If you are a big group and you want to cook your own meals, this is the place to be at. It is also in the heart of Basco town proper, at the corner of Abad and Abuyug Sts. The entire house rents for P1,500/night and is good for 6-8 people. Click here to read separate post.

4. BATANES SEASIDE LODGE & RESTAURANT
Found by the seaside and the national road, it is a little bit far out from the main commercial areas but not as far out as Batanes Resort. It is owned by the same owners of Hiro’s Cafe. When we were there, we met someone who was on the same flight as ours going to Batanes and back to Manila, and he said he stayed at Batanes Seaside at P800/night for an air-conditioned room good for 4pax.

5. SHANEDEL’S INN & CAFE
Right by the National Road and also walking distance from commercial areas, Shanedel (read: sheyndel, and not shah-neh-del) might easily be missed.
To get to the main building and restaurant, you have to go through a narrow street.
Since it was low-season when we were in Batanes, the entire place was closed up. We had come in one time looking for some lunch and were told, the place was closed. We were welcome to hang around though – which we did because it was a good place to take photos of the port.
Rates: P750 (Single), P1000 (double), P1200 (triple). Fan rooms at P350/head

5. BRANDON’S LODGE & RESTAURANT
We went over looking to eat at the restaurant because we were running out of places to eat out, only to find the place closed. Yes, it was very much low-season – half of the lodges and restaurants in Basco were closed. It is walking distance from the airport, the national road, and everything else. It is actually very accessible. I forget why I did not consider staying at this place.

6. IVATAN LODGE
This is where our Travel Factor friend Jerome stayed when he was in Batanes the week before. They have fan rooms for P300/night and in that, is very good for solo travelers or backpackers. It is also found along the National Road, in between Batanes Seaside Lodge & Restaurant and Shanedel’s Inn & Cafe.
Rates: Fan rooms: P300 (single), P400 (double), P600 (Triple), P750 (Family); A/C Room P1000

7. FUNDACION PACITA
We didn’t make it to Fundacion Pacita while we were there. When my mom and her friends said they were going, we opted not to go with them; only because it was almost five o’clock in the afternoon and we figured it would be too dark to take photos by the time we got there and it would take us some time to get back to town. Fundacion Pacita, though expensive, is a very, very nice place to stay though. So if you have money to spare, go for it.

And lastly, whatever you do, DO NOT, and I reiterate, DO NOT ever consider staying at PENSION IVATAN. If you know what’s good for you, stay clear of this lodge and do not book their tour packages either. There are so many other lodges in Basco and you will do yourself a favor by staying clear of this place.

I wish to ask why you significantly emphasized not to consider fundacion pacita. The place appears to be very nice.
Please give us things to do in batanes if we consider going there in the summer.
Hi Susan,
Fundacion Pacita is indeed a very nice place. I did say this: “Fundacion Pacita, though expensive, is a very, very nice place to stay though. So if you have money to spare, go for it.” I didn’t get to go there myself but from what I heard and read, it is a good place to visit when you find yourself in Batanes.:)
What I did say was: “whatever you do, DO NOT, and I reiterate, DO NOT ever consider staying at PENSION IVATAN. If you know what’s good for you, stay clear of this lodge and do not book their tour packages either. There are so many other lodges in Basco and you will do yourself a favor by staying clear of this place.” because of a very, very bad experience we had with them. An experience I would rather not recall now.
Thanks for this list, this is very handy. =)
I’ve just booked flights and now looking for hotels. Will check your other posts, thanks again!
