SYNOPSIS
SAMPAGUITA NATIONAL FLOWER is a film that chronicles the journey of the sampaguita flower from the time the buds are plucked in the province to the time they are sold in the city.
The story is told by the children who are involved in the different stages of the journey.
FILMMAKER’S PROFILE
FRANCIS XAVIER PASION is the director-writer of the film JAY which won the Best Film, Best Editing and Best Actor Award (for Baron Geisler) in CINEMALAYA 2008. The film has since been screened in over 28 international film festivals, premiering at the prestigious Venice International Film Festival in 2008. It has won 6 international awards and 12 local awards. Francis also served as a member of the international jury at the Vladivostok International Film Festival 2009. He currently directs for television, and has taught film at the Ateneo de Manila University of which he is a CUM LAUDE graduate of Communication and the founder of the premier student film organization Loyola Film Circle. SAMPAGUITA is his sophomore film and also his second entry to the Cinemalaya.
