This song has been playing in my head for the past days and I guess will continue to play for days to come…
Defying Gravity
Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I’m through with playing by the rules
Of someone else’s game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It’s time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes and leap!
It’s time to try
Defying gravity
I think I’ll try
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I am defying gravity
And you wont bring me down!
I’m through accepting limits
’cause someone says they’re so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I’ll never know!
Too long I’ve been afraid of
Losing love I guess I’ve lost
Well, if that’s love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I’d sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I’m defying gravity
I think I’ll try
Defying gravity
And you wont bring me down!
I’d sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I’m defying gravity
I think I’ll try
Defying gravity
And never bring me down!
bring me down!
Some of the photos taken at Roma and Jay’s belated joint birthday bash last December 11 at Ten 02 Bar in Sct. Ybardolaza, Timog, Q.C.
I was not too fired up to go because I was still reeling from the emotional crash hoolabaloo that happened that week but I thought, heck, I need some form of distraction. I need a party!!! So off I went though uber late. Looking at the photos, you wouldn’t know I was not feeling too good about myself from how huge my smile is.
Happy party Abeth
Nicki and Abet, I love you two here.
Girls, girls, girls
Bagets (pa rin kayo para sa amin kahit di na naman talaga)
Dan Ramon Geromo and Jerico Placido (I go for complete names)
I came home from a great Christmas party last night with TF friends and was not bursting with energy this morning so I thought about watching an episode or two of Glee just to perk up my day. The house is still clean so a perk-me-up bit of housework was not an option.
Oh, Glee is just pure love…
I have always loved this song… Truly one of the greatest songs of all time. It always touches my heart in little ways. Glee numbers have always made me smile.. until this..
… I just could not help but cry. Oh, love… love… love.
Across the Universe did a montage on it but it did not touch me as much as this one did.
As a side note, can’t wait to see Idina Menzel from Rent and Wicked do a guesting on this show.
This is the Ladies Sidewalk Surfer Sanuk collection. Ryan bought his and hers Hemp Sanuks for $70 at the Black Friday Sale. That is why I got this Sanuk right here….
Wearin my Sanuks
But I still want my Day Dreamer… I guess I’m gonna go day dream about it to the day I can afford it. Hehehe.
The past days has been what? Either all about going out or staying home lazing all day. I have not been blogging, I have not been doing anything substantial and yet the days and hours seem to pass me by so fast. What is up with that?
Last night, we did a marathon of Glee episodes. At least those we have not been able to watch yet. All the way to Sectionals. Oh how I love Glee….
Guess this means you’re sorry
You’re standing at my door
Guess this means you take back
All you said before…
‘Cause we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me and honestly…
My life would suck without you!
Glee marathon pretty much used up all our evening and resulted to our getting to bed late, which pretty much resulted to my getting up late. So this morning I was up much later than usual and found myself feeling much lazier than usual. So I thought, I should do something about this laziness. How about some housework therapy to jump start my day?
I was sweeping and scrubbing the floor when I thought about my days in El Nido. We used to tease each other about our loneliness coping mechanisms. We knew Teacher Joy was feeling down if she was scrubbing the floor, mopping it first with soapy water before applying wax and then scrubbing to make the floor brand-spanking shiny. We knew Teacher Grace had the blues when our bathroom was gleaming white even in the darkness of the tiny green light bulb. Everyone knew I was feeling sad when they saw me shoveling the drainage free of trash. Housework therapy. Nothing like a good sweat to make you feel full of energy. Or at least enough energy (or filth) to make you want to take a shower. Sometimes we feel so down and lazy, we don’t even want to take a bath.
Now that the house is clean (and so am I), I found the time and energy (this morning I was feeling too lazy to even sit here in front of this laptop) to sit down and work on some photos I need to post. Maybe I would find it in me too to finally set up my Ovi suite since I haven’t been able to make my Nokia 5360 work for me just yet. Or maybe finally use the Bamboo Fun tablet that is right now still sitting prettily in its box.

There is a party tonight. There will be a party on Sunday night. Wow, I’m all about attending parties lately. I am loving this season.
I took Lia out for a walk to Canberra St. last Monday. Actually I went to check on my dress for my friend’s wedding. Seamstress wasn’t there. I was told she went to Bacolod and would not be back until the 21st. I did not get to see my dress. I’m thinking it hasn’t been sewn yet.
I took Lia to the mall with me yesterday. I needed to get a new moisturizer for my face. It’s this blasted cold weather. I also needed to get Ascof tablets for this ridiculous cough that has been giving me the headaches. Too much coughing makes my head and back ache. It’s this blasted cold weather too. We passed by a couple of shoe stores that reminded me I don’t have shoes to go with the dress just yet. Well, actually, I don’t have the dress yet.. so to hell with the shoes. I am almost worried now.
We have probably driven past this resto a hundred times. I have noticed it before, but was always hesitant to go in because I thought it was some sort of resort. Hahaha. Like you know, with nice villas and a pool inside. Sometimes I thought, it’s probably a chic little private museum. Other times I thought it was a restaurant, but an expensive one where we could not afford any food.
The courtyard
I love Kalayaan Avenue. It has all these cool little places that I make memories with. Like 9 Mile Bar. Like Pork Barrel, this kubo-kubo grill Ryan and I found ourselves one night we were trying to find a place to have coffee and beer and a quiet place where we could talk. Like this wine resto that is also a depot for native furniture. (Ha! Even BarKo in which we have unfortunately found ourselves one night). I lived in Kalayaan Avenue for one semester. My father rented out a big room for me, with its private bathroom at the back of this brick building that housed his then-office in the penthouse, where I was joined by my brother when he took up his masters in Ateneo de Manila. I almost know it upside-down, downside-up.
We had mass with Ryan’s parents because it was his mom’s birthday last Friday, at the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice in U.P. It was actually Lia’s first mass. I was not too happy about bringing her to mass because I know it was just gonna be hard on her but oh well.. We first thought of having dinner at Cocina Juan, since that is actually one of our favorite places these days, but we thought a party of six and a baby would not really fit in. We made it to Kamay Kainan thinking we were all gonna avail of buffet but the service there is awful, awful, awful, awful (I can’t seem to say it enough) that we left. We thought of eating at Trellis right across the street but Trellis was closed. I would say that this is another of those occurrences when a bad thing turns out to be a good thing because we ended up in Adarna: Food and Culture.
The trees in the courtyard decked with Christmas lights and lanterns
Doors at the dining area opening into the courtyard
Little sari-sari store at the lobby. More dining in the courtyard.
Dining is made more private with the use of dividers
The view of the courtyard from our dining table
We were supposed to head back to Teacher’s Village, a convoy of three cars. We stopped to wait right in front of Adarna and I thought, why not check this place out? A waiter came out to meet me and I asked if I could see the menu. I only really wanted to check if the food was affordable. Having seen that they were, we then decided to stay.

Nice plate! (coz I don't remember what this was)
Again, don't remember what this was.
It may seem obvious to other people what this is, but to me, it's not. Haha!
I will have to improve my dish naming skills..
Don't remember what this was called but it's a must-try!
This, I definitely know. It's halo-halo! Hahaha! Really, it is.
Taking a moment to have photo taken at courtyard.
It's Christmas season after all.
I would dare say, this place is great! Affordable food, wonderful ambiance, great service and all that. Love this place! We would definitely come back soon!
